Service Description
DATES: Dec 1st or Dec 15th Class Length: 1 day for 2hrs **We will have more sessions in Jan to be posted on Dec 16th.** Requirement Information: Scouts can complete requirements 4 and 5 during the session. Scouts will complete requirements 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 after the session. You will have to complete some requirements after the session with a 6-month deadline to submit. This merit badge is taught by a University President, and the focus of the Citizenship in Society merit badge is to provide you with information on diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership. You’ll learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting, as well as how to help other people at all times and serve as a leader and an upstander. Research the terms below and have an understanding of what they mean before the merit badge session. 1. Before beginning work on other requirements for this merit badge: a. Research the following terms - Identities - Inclusion - Diversity - Discrimination - Equity - Ethical Leadership - Equality - Upstander Requirements #4 and #5 will be completed during the session. All other requirements will need to be submitted to receive your blue card. IMPORTANT: Prior to registering, the Scout should have a discussion with their unit leader to obtain approval to participate Blue Card: Upon completion of the course, the Scout will be issued a digital blue card signed by our merit badge counselor. Scouts will need to submit all requirements to receive a blue card.
