Service Description
Dates: Feb 16th or Feb 23rd Class Length: 2hrs 15min Scouts will need to complete some requirements before the Zoom session and be prepared to give a speech during the live Zoom session on camera with a microphone, teach a skill, and introduce themself using a visual aid. **If you don't have a camera and headset to complete this, please don't sign up.** *If you don't think your scout is ready to do this live on camera, please don't sign up.* Prerequisites: Requirements for BEFORE the class: Requirement #1c: (Prerequisite) Come with a list of as many ways as you can think of to communicate with others (e.g., face-to-face, telephone, and so on). For each type of communication, think of an instance when that method might not be appropriate or effective. Requirement #2: (Prerequisite) Think of a creative way to introduce yourself. You will describe yourself using, for example, a collage, short story or autobiography, drawing or series of photographs, or a song or skit. During the Zoom session, you will use your aid (a collage, short story or autobiography, drawing or series of photographs, or a song or skit) to introduce yourself. You can show photos or aids to the camera, but you can't use screen share. Requirement #3: (Prerequisite) Write a five-minute speech. Give it at a meeting of a group. - To complete this, Scouts will present this five-minute speech during the Zoom session. Requirement #6: (Prerequisite) With your counselor's approval, develop a plan to teach a skill or inform someone about something. Prepare teaching aids for your plan. Carry out your plan. With your counselor, determine whether the person has learned what you intended. Scouts can complete requirements #4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 before or after the session. IMPORTANT: Prior to registering, the Scout should have a discussion with their scoutmaster to: 1) obtain approval to participate in the course 2) Confirm that their scoutmaster will sign the blue card upon completion of the course. We will issue a PDF blue card after the scout completes all the requirements. Remember: Scout must have a microphone, headset, & camera to take this merit badge.

**Merit Badge Session Policies** To ensure compliance with updated guidelines and maintain the interactive and engaging nature of our merit badge sessions, the following policies will be implemented: 1. Camera-On Policy **Camera Requirement**: - All Scouts must have their cameras on during the entire merit badge session. **No Exceptions**: - If a Scout does not have their camera on or does not have access to a functioning camera, they will not be allowed to participate in the session. **Rescheduling and Fees**: - Parents/guardians will be responsible for rebooking and paying for a new session if their Scout is unable to comply with the camera-on requirement. **Purpose**: - This policy is designed to ensure Scouts actively participate in discussions and meet the interactive standards required for merit badge completion. 2. Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy **Rescheduling or Cancelling a Session**: - To reschedule or cancel a scheduled merit badge session, you must do so at least *4 days in advance* using the app provided at this link: [http://wix.to/38CABtM?ref=cl](http://wix.to/38CABtM?ref=cl). **Late Cancellations**: - Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 4 days before the session will not be accommodated, and you will be responsible for rebooking and paying for a new session.
